The easiest way to maintain a fresh, dry and odor free environment. Steam-activation is primarily used for coconut charcoal and coal. In the production of steam-activated charcoal, first the coconut shell or coal is heated to create a char. This char is then "activated" in a furnace at high temperatures of 1,700° to 1,800°F with steam in the absence of oxygen. Charcoal is a light, black residue, consisting of carbon and any remaining ash, obtained by removing water and other volatile constituents from animal and vegetation substances. Charcoal is usually produced by slow pyrolysis, the heating of wood or other substances in the absence of oxygen (see char and biochar). The charcoal briquette was first invented and patented by Ellsworth B. A. Zwoyer of Pennsylvania in 1897 and was produced by the Zwoyer Fuel Company. The process was further popularized by Henry Ford, who used wood and sawdust byproducts from automobile fabrication as a feedstock. Let's clear the air. I keep my golf shoes in the trunk of my car and every time I opened the trunk, it smelled like unwashed socks (although I never leave used socks in the trunk). I've had the charcoal bag in my trunk for 2 weeks now, and so far it's been working. Instructions state to leave the bag in sunlight to reactivate, so hopefully this will last a long time. It does have a metal grommet as the picture shows, but I just leave it on my golf shoe bag. I wish I had a place to hang it in my trunk. I will probably by a couple more so I can place one in my shoe cabinet and store some for future use. The bag came in a sealed foil pouch so I believe I can store it until I need it.

Our closet had the worst smell and was getting worse. Nothing seemed to get the smell completely gone. We ordered two of these and put one in each corner of the top shelf of the closet. Guess what---the smell is gone. Within the first 24 hours you could tell the difference. In four days the smell is completely gone. These work. I don't know how or why but they definitely work and I would recommend them to anyone.

I wasn't able to find any scientific studies demonstrating the value of a bamboo charcoal filter. I can only find NASA lists of air-cleaning plants. But it makes sense, since charcoal is a known filter, and I'd much rather use an all-natural solution than something which needs to be plugged in. I'm super glad I tried this out - reduces noxious air in our bedroom from chainsmokers who live in our home, as well as noxious fumes from Febreeze, nail polish, hairspray, etc. The nose knows!

So I'm one of those people who loves natural or home remedy tricks, but I honestly didn't expect these bags to do much, if anything at all. Still, I was desperate to get rid of the pet/man/everyday-type house smells, and my walk-in closet wreaked of dead mouse for months after one died up in the attic above it and just before summer hit. The heat's only made it worse since then. I also wanted something to replace my Febreze air filter, which works OK but it's not 100% perfect, tends to be loud, and the filters are done within a month of consistent use. At $10 or so every month, that starts to add up. The one I had in the closet never made a dent either.
My main concern was obviously the mouse smell, which has kept me and my clothes out of there for too long. It had been so bad at one point that it saturated my books, clothes and even my suitcases, which I couldn't even use for my trip. There was also this humid feeling and a musty kind of smell that was new, although that might have been more residual Mickey. I tried everything, from sprays (Zero Odor/air fresheners, etc.) and my usual Febreze air filters. I also attempted to carpet clean in there with my Rug Doctor, and even whipped out my handy dandy steam cleaner, both of which typically kick Odor's butt on a good day. Nothing worked until I tried these charcoal bags.
I also feel that these do reduce humidity to some degree, which is also great. I can't tell whether it's doing anything with allergens and what not (am still sneezing, etc.), but that's not a huge deal. Plus, it's that time of year anyway. I'm also happy to report that I no longer have to run my fan filter or the bathroom fan to keep the kitty ozone layer from creeping into the bedroom, which is great. Both tend to be on the loud side, not to mention waste electricity.
I did receive this product at a discount for an honest review. I rely on other Amazon reviews to determine how I spend my hard-earned money. If a product deserves one star I will give it one star. We had a slight problem with odor in one of our rooms due to the invasion (and, evidently, mortal end) of some wildlife. After hanging these charcoal & bamboo bags throughout the room the smell dissipated within a few days. The bags are just the right size to be unobtrusive and are completely odorless. I gave one to an associate who had a mold-smell issue in her closet, and she also reports that their efficacy is true to claims.

I actually purchased this air purifying bag for my car. I am a college student and have a lot of clothes, forgotten items that emit a malodorous scent. I grew tired of purchasing air fresheners that just mask or mix with the smell, so I went in search of a more effective method to rid my car of the stench. I found this while browsing and decided to purchase it. I could not be more pleased with my choice thus far. It is an exceptional air purifier, and i will tell you why.
~The 1st reason I say this is an exceptional air purifier is simple, it works, and it works very well. The purifying bag in question does much more than just eliminate odors. It also removes toxins, allergens, bacteria, and moisture from the air. What I personally find most redeeming about this product, is that is actually eliminates the odor, it doesn’t mask or mix with it. With in 2 days my car was odor free.
